Information & Forms for Members & Prospective Members
All Paws for Tales dogs are mature animals certified with Guide Dogs for the Blind, Pet Partners, Human-Animal Bond in Colorado, Alliance of Therapy Dogs, or other approved organizations.
Paws teams visit their assigned school once each week at a specific time. After each child has read, the dog owner places a sticker on the child’s special Paws bookmark that says, “(Your dog’s name) loved hearing you read today! Thank you!” The students’ teachers gather these bookmarks at the end of the session and save them for the following week. Once the bookmarks are full of stickers, the students take them home and keep them as “forever” keepsakes.
At the end of each school year, the students are presented with a certificate thanking them for their reading throughout the year. The certificate has pictures of all the dogs in their class that year. Some of our Paws readers – now grown up – still have their bookmarks and certificates!
